Immersive Tour in Sibayo, Colca Canyon
At 08:00 AM, we will depart from Arequipa towards the majestic Colca Valley and Canyon, crossing Pampa Cañahuas in the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve, home to elegant vicuñas. We will make a stop at Patahuasi to enjoy a revitalizing coca tea, ideal for acclimatizing and preventing altitude sickness. We will continue to Toccrapampa to admire the impressive bofedales.
Our journey will take us to the Mirador de los Volcanes at Patapampa, the highest point of the tour at 4800 meters above sea level, from where we can admire the imposing Western Cordillera. We will then descend for approximately 45 minutes to the village of Chivay, and after another 45 minutes, we will arrive in Sibayo, known as RUMILLACTA (stone village), famous for its stone constructions. The warm locals will welcome us, and we will settle into the immersive houses, followed by a delicious shared lunch.
To learn about their culture, we will visit the main attractions of the village, including the Plaza and the river with its typical Hanging Bridge. Optional visits to the villages of Callalli and Tuti will also be available. At the end of the day, we will return to our immersive houses to enjoy a traditional dinner with the host family and rest until the next day.
Cruz del Condor - Chivay
We will start the day with an early breakfast before heading to the Mirador de la Cruz del Cóndor, a 1 hour and 30 minutes’ drive. This key spot for observing the Colca Canyon offers the opportunity to see the majestic flight of the condor. We will stay for approximately 45 minutes to take photos and enjoy the nature.
On the way back to Chivay, we will make stops at various viewpoints to appreciate the valley's terracing. We will visit the village of Maca, known for its traditional church, where you can buy crafts and taste the local drink, "Colca Sour". We will enjoy a relaxing bath in the Hot Springs and conclude with a delicious lunch before returning to the city of Arequipa.
