Colca Canyon 2-Day Trek: During this journey, explore one of the deepest canyons in the world and take in its breathtaking natural beauty. We will delight in witnessing the famous flight of the condors as they soar through their natural habitat in search of food.
The 2-day tour includes a trek through the canyon’s picturesque villages, stops at viewpoints with spectacular landscapes, and an overnight stay at an oasis at the bottom of the canyon. Without a doubt, this is a must-do adventure in the high-Andean region of Arequipa, also known as the White City.

Day 1: Arequipa - Chivay hot spring waters
We begin the adventure by picking you up from your hotel between 3:00 and 3:30 AM. We will board our transport for an approximately 3-hour journey to Chivay.
At 6:00 AM, we will enjoy a delicious breakfast at a tourist restaurant before continuing our journey for another hour until we reach the Cruz del Cóndor Viewpoint. From here, we can appreciate the immense scale of the canyon and the magnificent flight of the Andean condors.
Continuing in our vehicle, we will pass through the villages of Cabanaconde and La Pampa de San Miguel. This is the starting point of our trek, where we will begin our descent into the canyon, enjoying views of the villages we will visit along the way.
We will proceed toward the village of San Juan de Chucho, where we will have lunch after a hike of approximately 4 hours. Next, we will head toward Sangalle (a 3-hour trek), an incredible place located in the heart of the canyon next to the Colca River. Along the way, we will also visit the villages of Cosñihua and Malata, where we will see a small local museum.
In the Sangalle Oasis, you will have the opportunity to enjoy the swimming pools, have dinner, and spend our first night in the canyon.
Day 2: Cruz del Condor - sorrounding towns - Arequipa
We will start the day very early. At 5:30 in the morning, after breakfast, we will head to the Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint. On the way, our first stop will be the town of Yanque, where we can enjoy traditional dances and visit its colonial church with beautiful portals.
At approximately 8:00 in the morning, we will arrive at Cruz del Cóndor, where we can observe the flight of the endangered condors and enjoy spectacular views of the canyon. An optional 40-minute hike along the canyon edge is also offered.
On our way back to Chivay, we will stop at the Antahuilque viewpoint to take impressive photos of the Colca Canyon. Then, we will visit the Choquetico tombs to admire the archaeological remains carved into the slopes of Cerro Cabanaconde. We will continue with a visit to the town of Maca and its mestizo baroque-style church.
Finally, we will arrive in Chivay for lunch and then begin our return journey to Arequipa, arriving around 5:30 in the afternoon.
