Tour to Llanchon Peninsula + Islands of Uros & Taquile


This exciting tour will take you through different islands of Lake Titicaca, including the floating islands of the Uros made of totora, where you will have the option of sailing on a raft of totora and Taquile Island which is the second largest island of the lake, famous in the world for producing one of the finest textile handicrafts. You will experience a stay in Llachón, a traditional community located at the edge of the lake where you will see an exhibition of typical costumes. We’ll be able to share with the inhabitants of each place visited, learning from their customs, their beliefs and their traditions.


Day 1: Puno - Uros - Llanchon

Our exciting tour will begin picking you up from your hotel around 7:00 am, we will go to the port of Puno where we will board our boat, and we will go to our first stop "Los Uros", floating islands where a local family will be waiting for us, who will share with us their traditions and way of life, we will visit these islands for approximately 2 hours and we will have the option to take a ride on a boat made of totora.

After this visit full of culture, in our boat we will go to Llachon, a small community that is located on the shores of Lake Titicaca, where we will get a peculiar welcome. This place is charming for its traditional houses built with rustic ceilings, we will enjoy lunch and we will have the opportunity to attend an exhibition of typical costumes, we will dine and spend the night in a family home.

Overview:

This interesting tour begins in the port of Puno at 7:00 am approximately. After picking you up from your hotel, we will go to the islands of the Uros in our boat where a local family will teach us their customs. Then we will continue to the community of Llachon where we will have lunch, enjoy an exhibition of typical costumes, dine and spend the night in a family home.

After a nutritious breakfast, we will board our boat that will take us to Taquile Island, the second largest island of the lake. Here we will have a warm welcome and we will take a cultural walk around the area, where we will know its main square while our guide will explain the customs and traditions of the place.

Life on this island is very traditional, there are no cars or hotels, only small shops with basic products, the taquileños live from agriculture and fishing. You will learn how they make their fine textiles famous in the world, and we will taste of a typical lunch on the island. Soon it will be time to return to Puno, our boat will leave us in the port, arriving around 5:00 in the afternoon and we will transfer you back to your hotel.

If the first day was impressive, imagine how the second will be. After sharing with the inhabitants of Llachon, we will sail to the island of Taquile where we will share a new experience with the settlers and in the afternoon we will return to Puno.
