This trip is designed for those with limited time to explore the magical citadel of Machu Picchu, surrounded by an impressive chain of mountains and an idyllic train ride following the Vilcanota River. It is the main goal for those visiting Cusco, offering unforgettable emotions and experiences while learning more about the culture that built this magnificent place!
Machu Picchu
This tour starts with the pick up from your hotel in Cusco between 3:00 and 3:40 am, we will board our private transport to Ollantaytambo, where we will take the train that will take us to the town of Machu Picchu or Aguas Calientes. In the journey of approximately 4 hour we will appreciate spectacular views of the imposing Vilcanota river and we will notice the gradual change of the vegetation from mountain to jungle.
Once we reach Machu Picchu town, we will immediately head to the bus station which is located a few minutes from the train station, the bus will take only half an hour to reach the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, where our guide will be waiting for us to take a tour of this wonderful place. We will learn from our guide about the Inca culture in a tour that will last 2 hours, then we will have free time to make a new tour on our own and take many photos.
Later and depending on the schedule of our return train, we will have to return to the town of Machu Picchu to have lunch on our own, to know a little more this small and cozy village and to be in time at the station to take the train back to Ollantaytambo. Once there our transfer will be waiting to make our last return trip to Cusco.
The transportation will leave us in Plaza San Francisco, located just 2 blocks from the Plaza de Armas of Cusco.
Overview:
Early in the morning, you will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to the Ollantaytambo train station. There, you will board the tourist train bound for Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Town), enjoying the stunning scenic beauty along the entire route.
As soon as you arrive in the town of Aguas Calientes, you will head to the bus station for a 30-minute journey that will finally take you to your destination: the imposing citadel of Machu Picchu. Here, you will enjoy incredible views of the Andes mountain range and an insightful guided tour of the archaeological complex. In the afternoon, you will return to Cusco.
