Sandboard in Cerro Blanco

This tour begins with a thrilling hike toward the highest sand dune in the world, situated at 2,078 meters above sea level. We depart early from Nasca at 5:00 AM in a private vehicle, heading toward the route to Cusco. After traveling 22 kilometers, we will reach the starting point of our trek, located at 1,300 meters above sea level.

The first part of the journey takes us along a mountain trail (off-sand), where for approximately 3 hours we can enjoy the breathtaking landscape and the sunrise. We will make all necessary stops to rest and capture photographs while our guide provides insights into the local flora and fauna.

After two hours of hiking, we will reach the upper section of Cerro Blanco, where we will begin walking on sand for about an hour. Upon reaching the summit of the dune, we will take a brief break to admire the spectacular valley stretching out beneath us.

Before starting the exhilarating descent, our guide will provide safety instructions. We will practice on five shorter runs, with heights of 18, 22, 30, 45, and 55 meters, respectively. Once you feel comfortable, you will be ready for the final descent: a vertiginous non-stop slide of approximately one kilometer. For adrenaline junkies, there is an option to apply wax to the board to increase speed.
