Get ready for an expedition that will stay with you forever!

Day 1: First Encounter with the Jungle – Rivers, Tribes, and Nighttime Adventures

Our adventure begins in Iquitos, where we’ll pick you up and take you to the dock. There, you’ll board a speedboat that will take you along the Nanay River until it merges with the mighty Amazon, the largest and most powerful river on Earth.

Our first stop will leave you breathless: the spectacular natural phenomenon where the Nanay, Itaya, and Amazon Rivers meet, creating a mesmerizing dance of currents. Next, we’ll visit a local indigenous community, where you’ll be welcomed with traditional songs and dances and have the chance to purchase unique handcrafted souvenirs.

In the afternoon, we’ll explore Fundo Pedrito, a wildlife sanctuary where you’ll feed giant fish, see caimans up close, and admire the stunning Victoria Amazonica water lilies. Upon arriving at the lodge, you’ll enjoy a delicious dinner before setting out on an exciting nighttime excursion, where you’ll uncover the jungle’s mysteries under a sky full of stars.

In the afternoon, a unique experience awaits: fishing for piranhas using ancient techniques and swimming in the warm waters of the Amazon River. As the sun sets, we’ll set out in search of the legendary pink river dolphins, watching as the sky transforms into shades of gold and crimson. The day will end around a crackling campfire, where our local guides will share fascinating stories and myths of the Amazon.

Key Tips for Your Amazon Expedition

To make the most of your jungle adventure and avoid setbacks, keep these essential recommendations in mind:

1. Health & Prevention
  • Consult your doctor about the yellow fever vaccine and malaria prophylaxis before your trip.

  • Pack a basic first-aid kit with pain relievers, antihistamines, stomach medications, and insect repellent with DEET.

  • Stay hydrated and avoid drinking non-bottled water to prevent illness.

2. Proper Clothing
  • Choose lightweight, quick-drying clothing in light colors to minimize mosquito attraction.

  • A wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses will protect you from the intense Amazonian sun.

  • Wear comfortable, water-resistant footwear—ideally trekking shoes or boots.

3. Essential Items
  • Bring a lightweight backpack for daily excursions.

  • Don’t forget a headlamp with extra batteries for night hikes.

  • A waterproof poncho will be your best ally against sudden rain showers.

4. Technology & Photography
  • A camera with zoom or binoculars will help you capture the Amazon’s incredible biodiversity.

  • Carry extra batteries or a solar charger, as electricity access in lodges may be limited.

  • Protect your devices with waterproof bags to prevent damage from humidity.

5. Money & Shopping
  • Always carry cash in Peruvian soles for extra expenses, as many communities don’t accept card payments.

  • Support local artisans by purchasing handmade souvenirs.

6. Respect for the Environment
  • Do not disturb wildlife or plants, and always follow your guide’s instructions.

  • Use biodegradable products and avoid leaving waste in the jungle.

  • Show respect to indigenous communities and their culture—ask for permission before taking photos.

7. Adventurous Mindset
  • Stay flexible and open to the experience— the jungle is unpredictable, and part of the magic is adapting to its rhythms.

  • Be ready to disconnect—internet access is limited, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in nature.

  • Enjoy every moment and let the Amazon surprise you with its majesty and biodiversity.
