We’ll start our adventure picking you up at your hotel between 3:00 and 3:30 am, to board the tourist-class bus which will take us to to Chivay in a trip of approximately 3 hours.
At 6:00 am we will be having our delicious breakfast in a tourist restaurant, and we will continue our journey for 1 hour more, until we reach Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint, from where we can appreciate the shape of the canyon and the magnificent flight of the condors.
Taking our transport again, we will pass through the villages of Cabanaconde and La Pampa de San Miguel, this is the point where we will begin the trek appreciating the interior of the canyon with views of the villages that we will visit along our route.
Continue to the village of San Juan de Chucho, where we will have lunch after a walk of about 4 hours, then we will head for Sangalle (+3 hours), incredible place located in the heart of the canyon and the side of the Colca River. On the way we will also visit the villages of Cosñihua and Malata where we will see a small museum.
In the valley of Sangalle, we will have the opportunity to enjoy their swimming pools, we will have dinner and spend our first night.
We’ll wake early in the morning, at around 4:00am, in order to set off on the hike early. (This is to avoid hiking when the sun really heats up the canyon.) At 5:00 in the morning we will start the trek, descending towards the town of Cabanaconde where we will enjoy a rich breakfast. There we will wait for our tourist-class transport that will take us back to Chivay, on the way we will make some stops in places of interest to take some pictures and appreciate beautiful landscapes.
In Chivay we will enjoy a delicious buffet lunch (not included in the tour), and we will have the option to visit the hot springs of La Calera, located only 4 kilometers from Chivay. Finally it will be time to begin our return back to Arequipa, where we’ll arrive at approximately 6:00 pm.
