The tour begins with a pickup from your hotel. We’ll leave the port of Puno at around 7:30am on a motor boat. After a travel of 30 minutes through the bay of Puno, we’ll get to the Floating Islands of Uros.
There are approximately 20 of these artificial islands, each inhabited by an Aymara-speaking family with 5-10 members, who construct and maintain their island and houses with totora reeds. Our guide will explain the history and traditions of the Uros during approximately an hour.
Afterwards, we’ll board our boat again and continue on to the Island of Taquile, where we’ll hike upwards for about an hour. We’ll visit the town, its artisanal center and museum and we’ll have lunch at a local house where we'll learn about their daily life. Then, we’ll finish our visit descending through the opposite side of the island by lots of stone steps that will takes us to where our boat will be waiting to take us back to Puno (about 5:00pm), where you’ll be dropped back off at your hotel.
