What we recommend bringing

Bring Your Original Passport Your passport is required to enter Machu Picchu and other checkpoints along the trek. Make sure it's valid and keep it in a waterproof pouch for protection.

Choose the Right Backpack A medium-sized backpack is ideal for carrying your essentials comfortably. Opt for a lightweight, durable model with adjustable straps to avoid strain during long hikes.

Wear Proper Hiking Shoes A good pair of hiking shoes with ankle support and a strong grip is crucial for navigating uneven terrain. Break them in before the trek to prevent blisters.

Pack a Flashlight A flashlight or headlamp is essential for early morning starts and nighttime use at the campsite. Don’t forget extra batteries!

Stay Hydrated Bring a bottle of water for the first day. You’ll be able to refill along the way, but carrying an initial supply is important to stay hydrated.

Other trip recommendations

Protect Yourself from Insects and Sun  Mosquitoes can be bothersome, so carry insect repellent to avoid bites. A hat and sunglasses will protect you from the strong sun at high altitudes.

Sleeping Essentials A sleeping bag is a must for comfort and warmth at night. Choose one suited for cold temperatures.

Clothing and Personal Care Pack four days' worth of underwear and a swimsuit if you plan to enjoy hot springs or rivers. Bring personal hygiene items such as toothpaste, soap, and wet wipes.

Capture the Memories A camera will let you document the stunning landscapes and Inca ruins along the way. Make sure you have enough storage and battery life!

Carry Some Extra Money Having extra cash on hand is useful for small purchases, tips, or emergencies, especially in remote areas where cards may not be accepted.
