Day 1: Immersion in the Heart of the Amazon

Our journey begins with a transfer from the airport or your hotel in Iquitos to our agency, where you’ll receive a brief introduction before heading to the dock. From there, we’ll board a boat that will take us along the Nanay River, gradually merging into the majestic Amazon River—the largest and most powerful river in the world. As we navigate, we’ll witness the spectacular confluence of the Nanay, Itaya, and Amazon rivers.

Our first stop will be at a local indigenous community, where you’ll experience their ancient traditions, enjoy their vibrant music and dances, and explore their exquisite handcrafted artworks. Next, we’ll visit Fundo Pedrito, a wildlife sanctuary where you can feed giant paiche fish, observe piranhas in their natural habitat, and admire the stunning Victoria Regia, the region’s iconic water lily.

At midday, we’ll arrive at Avatar Amazon Lodge & Canopy Park, our secluded retreat in the jungle, where a delicious Amazonian lunch awaits. In the afternoon, we’ll venture into a wildlife reserve to observe the incredible biodiversity of the rainforest. Playful monkeys, colorful macaws, sloths, and even mighty anacondas will accompany us on this adventure. As night falls, we’ll enjoy a satisfying dinner before setting off on an exciting nighttime jungle trek, where the Amazon comes alive with mysterious sounds and creatures such as tarantulas, scorpions, and other fascinating nocturnal species.

We’ll rise before dawn to witness a breathtaking spectacle—the sunrise over the Amazon. As the first golden rays of sunlight pierce through the misty jungle, we’ll embark on an early morning birdwatching tour, spotting exotic species in their natural habitat. Returning to the lodge, we’ll enjoy a hearty breakfast before heading to Avatar Canopy Park, an adventure park where we’ll soar through the treetops on zip lines, cross hanging bridges, and take in stunning aerial views from platforms suspended 35 meters above the ground. (Maximum weight limit: 220 lbs/100 kg.)

After this adrenaline-fueled experience, we’ll relax by the lodge’s pool before indulging in a traditional Amazonian lunch. In the afternoon, we’ll learn the local technique for fishing piranhas and, for the more adventurous, take a refreshing swim in the warm waters of the Amazon River. During the summer season, we’ll also have the chance to enjoy a natural mud therapy treatment on the river’s temporary islands.

As the sun sets, we’ll board a boat to seek out the legendary pink and gray river dolphins, mystical creatures steeped in Amazonian folklore. We’ll close the day with a delicious dinner and an enchanting storytelling session, where we’ll uncover the myths and legends that have shaped the cultural heritage of this magical region.

Day 3: Botanical Exploration and Butterfly Wonderland

Our morning begins with a fascinating botanical walk, where we’ll explore the diverse flora of the Amazon. We’ll discover medicinal plants with healing properties, exotic fruits, and towering timber trees. One of the highlights of our journey will be standing beneath the Lupuna tree, one of the tallest and most majestic trees in the rainforest.

After lunch, we’ll visit the Morphosapi Butterfly Farm, a magical sanctuary where we’ll witness the mesmerizing metamorphosis of vibrant butterflies. We’ll learn about their ecological significance and immerse ourselves in an environment full of life and color. The day concludes with a delicious dinner and a well-deserved rest, surrounded by the tranquil sounds of the jungle.

Day 4: Navigating the Yanayacu River and Farewell to the Amazon

On our final morning in the rainforest, we’ll enjoy a hearty breakfast before embarking on an expedition along the Yanayacu River, a dark-water tributary teeming with wildlife. We’ll explore this unique ecosystem by boat and on foot, observing the Amazon’s rich biodiversity. Our journey will take us to the community of San Juan de Huachalado, where we’ll gain insight into their way of life and witness the artisanal distillation of traditional beverages at a rustic trapiche mill.

At midday, we’ll return to the lodge for one last delicious Amazonian meal before preparing for our journey back to Iquitos. At 2:30 p.m., we’ll board our boat for a scenic ride along the Amazon River, arriving in the city around 4:00 p.m.—the perfect ending to an unforgettable adventure in the heart of the jungle.
