Maldonado 5D/4N

The tour starts in the city Puerto Maldonado ‘Capital of Biodiversity of Peru', where you will be toured around the city, visit the markets and depending on the time, enjoy lunch in the city or the hostel. You will then be transferred to the port where a boat will take you to our hostel, (about an hour down the Madre de Dios River). You will settle down in our bungalows, as agreed in your reservation. After that, you will embark on an excursion to the Isla de los Monos (Monkey Island) where you can observe a great variety of monkeys, such as the Maquisapa, Martín, León Pequeño, Frailes, etc. After this you will return to the accommodation, where you will enjoy a delicious dinner and can partake in the evening activities.

After a delicious breakfast you will head out to Lake Sandoval for an 1 hour and 30 minute walk through the jungle, where you can appreciate the diversity of flowers (orchids, platanillos etc.), and wildlife (giant otters, alligators, wild chickens, a variety of fish: piranha, paiche). You can also take a refreshing swim without any danger, after which you will enjoy lunch and walk back to the hostel where you will also have dinner and spend the night (evening activities optional).

After breakfast, you will travel to the specialist project of "Taricaya" by boat (downstream for about an hour), where you can appreciate a wide variety of animals (turtles, collared peccaries, ocelots, macaws, goats, etc.). You will than take a walk through the jungle where there will be ample opportunity to see more wild animals and medical plants etc. During this tour you will enjoy lunch, and afterwards can walk along a suspension bridge of about 100 meters length and 60 meters height. After this, you will return to the lodge where you will enjoy another delicious dinner and can once again take part in the optional evening activities.

After breakfast you will walk around the accommodations and will be able to enjoy a diversity of flora and fauna (approximately 3 hours). During this walk you will enjoy lunch before returning to the accommodations. In the afternoon you will have free time. Later you will have dinner and stay at the bungalows for the night.

Very early in the morning, you will board the boat and head up the river to Collpa de Loros (Collpa of the Parrots), where you can watch an enchanting sunrise, and will stay there for about 1 hour and 30 minutes to observe hundreds of green parrots congregating in the early hours in the morning. You will then have breakfast and return to Puerto Maldonado.
