Inti Raymi 2010 - Festival of the SUN

Every year on June 24, Cusco celebrates the festival of the sun, known as "Inti Raymi". This festival was celebrated by the Incas as the festival of the sun, where they honor the sun god Wiracocha. The Inti Raymi symbolizes the union between the sun and their children (humans). Inti Raymi was the most important holiday of Tawantinsuyo empire ruled by the Inca, who based their religion in worship of the sun.

The central representation is running on the esplanade of the impressive fortress of Sacsayhuaman, 2 km from the city of Cusco, reached easily by car or walking.

That step is staged in a long ceremony, a ritual to acknowledge and thank the Inca sun god is driven by stretcher from the Koricancha or Temple of the Sun to the Huacaypata (square of the city), which urges the authorities to make good government.

Participants then split due to Sacsayhuaman, there's sacrifice on a white flame and black. - Ceremony of the chicha.
- Sacred fire ceremony.
- The sacrifice of the Llamas.
- Ceremony of the sanko (holy bread)
- Message from the Inca.
- Qochorikuy (end of the festival)

Itinerary :

Breakfast in the hotel at 09:00 a.m.: we will bring you to the esplanade of Qorikancha, where the first rituals of the Apu Inti (sun) cult took place. At 11:00 a.m.: you will go to the Plaza de Armas (the antique Aucaypata or Plaza of the warriors) the place where the following of the Incas came to. Here was the place for great speeches.

After that we will board a bus to drive to the esplanade Sacsayhuaman, at this site we will place ourselves into the center to observe the sun cult (INTIRAYMI). You will be back at the hotel by approximately 04:00 p.m.
